The Association Of PANDA
Recent national events have
reminded us all too well of the importance of and the critical need for effective
Emergency Management and Emergency Preparedness at every level of the community.
The Association of PANDA is an
organization intended to provide news, information and resources to the Palo
Alto, California, community and to those that have completed the Palo Alto
Neighborhood Disaster Activities (PANDA) training program. The Palo Alto Office
of Emergency Services oversees and supervises the PANDA training program. A
primary component of their mission is to remind our neighbors, constituents and
friends that:
- While most disasters are
unpredictable, preparations to lessen their effect are critical.
- The typical time for outside
assistance to reach an impacted area is 72 to 96 hours, if reasonable access to
the area exists.
- All households should maintain a
stock of emergency supplies that will last a minimum of 72 hours.
- You should establish a meeting point for your
family and an out of area phone contact for coordination and information.
- You are encouraged to become active in Palo Alto’s
Neighborhood Disaster Activities (PANDA).
- The PANDAs are the official
Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) members for the City of Palo Alto,
California
